About Katie
Katie Holzer is a versatile vocalist and performer whose talents range across musical theatre, jazz, contemporary, and classical styles. A 2024 YoungArts Winner in Voice: Popular Music, she is an emerging artist with a social media presence of 47.4K followers and 7.9 million likes on TikTok.
For the past eight years, Katie has trained with Tom Sellwood at Sellwood Studios, honing her skills as a legit soprano with a strong high belt while exploring various vocal techniques and styles. At Montclair Kimberley Academy, her jazz studies with John Leister and Maria Gilmartin include serving as the jazz band vocalist and performing as soloists in both jazz choir and the Remix Acapella group. Through an independent study last spring, she had the opportunity to record as the solo vocalist on a jazz album with renowned saxophonist Eric Alexander at the legendary Rudy Van Gelder Studio.
As a music theatre performer, Katie has portrayed leading roles including Mal in Descendants, Fiona in Shrek, and Portia in Something Rotten. She has also performed as a featured soloist at The Green Room 42 in New York City for the "Through the Ages" and "Mother Knows Best" cabarets.
Her competitive achievements include first place in the 2024 NATS Eastern Regional Competition (Lower High School Music Theatre category) and second place in Light Opera New Jersey's Stars of Tomorrow competition, where she returned as a finalist in 2025. Recently, she was nominated for a Montclair Foxy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role as Maggie in Lend Me A Tenor.
In the fall, Katie looks forward to continuing to develop her voice and artistry while exploring the creative and technical aspects of music production at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
